Hello I need help to get a registration for a bsa motorcycle I own.  There is no ownership and the bike is not in the system.  There are new people in my local office and they will not accept a affidavid.  Or the receipt is not enough.   Is there a page from the mto hand book that I can inform them of.  I am in the london area.  Help.

Details on the exact procedure for the local "Service Ontario" office to follow are available to them by calling the "Help Line" at the head office of the Motor Vehicles branch in Kingston.

    Hello Al

Thanks for the response.  I called the head office and what I have to do is go to a service Ontario location and get them to call the "hotline" then they will relay the instructions.  The guy I spoke to could not get the instruction or give me the number.  The number is for internal use only.  Pretty cloak and dagger stuff!  So I am going to try the next closest office and see if I can get any help.  It would be nice to know what paperwork I need before I go.  I have already made two previous trips.  It use to be so simple.  I keep everyone posted.  Jeff

Jeff do try another MTO office. If you have a sales receipt,an affidavid plus the numbers are clear then the bike is yours. Small MTO offices are great unlike the one in Belleville,Belleville used to have a GREAT MTO office(small) but when Doug retired Service Ontario took over and it got BIG! they know crap BUT the small ones do!

Well guys here's the latest.  I spoke to the woman working in the park hill office.  She wants o see a letter from the dealer.  I told her numerous time that BSA went out of business in 1972 but that didn't seen to matter.  The closest to a dealer would be walridge motors but she said a parts retailer was not good enough.  I wonder what new and creative things I am going to need tomorrow.

I tried to call various different MTO offices today but of all the local offices I called I just got the phone.  Park hill was the only one to call me back.

Jeff.Is there a small MTO office in a small town? You do NOT need a letter from a dealer !

Keep trying, somebody in your area must know of a good MTO office.

    Well fellas

Thanks for all the advice.  I got it this morning no drama no fuss all done in 10 minutes.  It just shows all the trouble one can get from a unco-operative, ignorant, pencil pusher.  Thanks again boys.  Jeff

    Hello Henry

I went to the office in Exeter Ontario.  The Lady working there was very helpful.  She called their private hotline and they checked the numbers.  The numbers were ok so then she was instructed to create a new ownership.  I guess you could politely suggest they call the hotline and learn to do it, at your local office.  Good Luck.    I wish we could get someone from the ministry to do a seminar at the Paris rally.  It would be nice to finally separate the facts from fiction.  Jeff
