The George Pepper Classic 1/2 Mile
After 62 years, this 1/2 mile event will be the last! Come out and show your support. Plans are being made for a great show!
1956 was the first year for 1/2 Mile racing in Belleville with Jerry Dafoe and the Firefighters Hosting the event until 1976 .The Bayside TrailBlazers took over for several years naming the 1/2 Mile "The Norm Carr".
The Belleville Agricultural Society was the last organization to run the 1/2 Mile and has done so successfully.
In 2015 The Agricultural Society approached the Eastern Shield for help in running the 1/2 Mile. The first year was successful and the fans were happy with the Vintage display & the Lap of Honour.
2016 ,Changes were about to take places. The CMA who had a long History ,59 years,
was going to be replaced with Flat Track Canada and the name Norm Carr was replaced with a Belleville War Hero and winner of the 1936 Belleville 200 mile road race . George Pepper.
