Alan Jack Sutherland, age 68, passed away on Friday, January 24, 2020 at the Royal Alexandra Hospital in Edmonton after a brief illness.

He was predeceased by his parents Jack and Eileen Sutherland. Alan will be lovingly remembered by his wife Joanne and three children Amanda, Scott and Heather (Tyler); two brothers, David (Rose) Sutherland and Bill (Bretta) Sutherland; many nieces and nephews.

Alan was a graduate of Red River College in Winnipeg. He worked for ESSO Imperial Oil for 30 years with most of his time spent at the Strathcona Refinery. Alan was kind, generous, caring and always made time for his family and friends.

Member of the Northern Alberta Section of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group he always had a project in his garage. Retired at 55 he loved to travel with Joanne and spent many winters with friends in Palm Springs and summers at the family cottage at Hillside Beach.

The family would like extend special thanks to the staff on the Cardiac Intensive Care Unit at the Royal Alexandra Hospital.

A memorial service will be held at 2:00 p.m on Saturday, February 8 at Glenwood Funeral Home, 52356 Range Road 232, Sherwood Park, AB. In lieu of flowers, if friends so desire, donations can be made in Alans’s memory to the Royal Alexandra Hospital, Heart and Stroke Foundation or Diabetes Canada.

As a fellow member of the NORAL Section of the Canadian Vintage Motorcycle Group, I always admired Al's enthusiasm and positive attitude. He organized great rides, helped make events happen, hosted enjoyable open garage nights, and showed through his many actions, how much he cared for other members. We will all miss him and remember his kind, caring gentle nature.
