1977 was the first year for the BMW R100RS. It was the only year with spoked wheels with coach-lined rims. The bike for sale here has 109,000 kms on it. It comes with the original BMW hard saddle bags. The bike is in good running condition with all original paint that has the nicks and scratches of nearly 50 years of life. The battery was replaced last year with one that puts out 500 CCA, well above what is typically in one for these bikes.

For those familiar with BMW you’ll notice the fuel tank cap has been replaced with a LeMans-style cap. If you’ve ever owned a similar age BMW you’ll know why it was replaced. Concern about the dreaded stripped internal ratchet mechanism that leaves you with a cap that can’t be released. For those who live on the edge I have the original repaired cap.
