I was looking for info on how to post photos or submit photos for the newsletter. I see I can add a link but don't understand the process when I open the "link" menu. Any info available on posting links?

Adding pics... I haven't discovered a way to add pics that are immediately visible. You need to add a link. First you have to upload photos to an image hosting site (or any web site that you have upload access to). Or you can link to an existing photo/web site by linking to that URL...

Highlight the area that you want "linked" with your cursor... example. Then open the drop down link menu above - in posting mode. Then click "Insert link"... Type the URL of the link that you wish to display into the box given, click OK.

    Voilà!

Yes I noticed that. I took a look at the HTML coding and noticed that the pics (links) are indeed in the code twice. But you did have success posting. It looks like this site is adding a duplicate function. When you add the <img src=" * "> function to display the pic, be sure there are no extra characters in the text copy of your posting - like... ">/

    This image is a test...

You must submit a pic that will fit inside the window or it will be cut off. Some of the text will also not show... so, if you click on the pic (in posting mode) you can re-size it to fit.

Glad it worked out for you. I think between the two of us we've managed to figure this out. There's more than a few folks on this forum that would like to post pics. A nice addition to this web site would be; the web guy adding an " uploading pics tutorial " for all to see. Or at least make it so that you can upload images the simple way, buy clicking a "browse" button that allows the user to find a photo on his/her own computer - then upload it. Perhaps drive space would then be an issue.

Actually, if you have a basic knowledge of HTML then you can figure it out, but not everyone has.

After playing a bit, here is an example of what this forum is capable of... A table with individual pics (re-sized) and inserted with the link removed, only displaying the pics.

    Merry Christmas Bro.

Steve, Barry, You guy have done a great job. Betty Anne has been asking me to write up something on the Help - How To" page, but I was only thinking describing how to upload photo albums, and put links in the forum or "For Sale/ wanted" pages.

If one of you could write some plain English explanation that all members could follow, that doesn't result in lots of requests for "help", then I will post it on the site. If you could email me your words of wisdom that would be great.

    Hi Patrick,

The method I am using only allows the user to add a "link" to a photo on an existing website. This means the user must upload his/her pic/s to the internet to achieve posting a pic on this forum. Perhaps Barry does it differently. Not everyone has web space to access file transfer protocol (FTP); to add their own pics onto the internet, and perhaps lack the knowledge also. However, the alternate is an image hosting site such as Flickr, photobucket, etc...

It would be easier to create an upload button for the user to upload photos from their own computer? If this is possible, do you have the storage space for these pics? A limited image size would also come into play. Image files can be enormous over the course of time.

If the answer is no for the last question we can go from there. An explanation in basic terms can be done, but may be a bit wordy. Image files would also be helpful if you can accommodate them. See below... this is a screen capture image showing the results of clicking on the LINK button (while in posting mode)... then placing the URL in the link details space provided.
