4.2 Valve Setting

On Saturday April 12th, at 13:00-16:00, Steve will be hosting a session on how to set tappet valves on a parallel twin motorcycle.

He claims he is not an expert on this subject matter, and will also be learning as we complete the task. It would be great to have those new to motorcycle maintenance in attendance, as well as some more experienced members to help guide us through the job.

We will be working on a 1973 CB350.

Please RSVP to me before Saturday, April 5th at:

CVMG SASKATCHEWAN EVENTS FOR  MAY 2025 SCHEDULE      here.

Hi Everyone!

We have had a lively spring so far with Show and Shines and Tuesday Night Coffees.  Plus thanks to Bob Dishaw for putting on a fantastic presentation about how to be a Ride Captain, how to ride as part of our group, how to be a Tail Runner and all the important safety factors.  For those of you that missed it, Ben Schmidt (our newly-elected Member at Large that has taken on Coordination of our Online Presence) recorded the session and will soon make it available to all our members.  As a result of our attempt to spread the Ride Captain responsibility to include more members... thank you to Steve Hermanson for stepping up and planning our ride for June.   Gordon Anderson is also planning a fun ride for us (date TBA) and I believe that new member, Glen Carter, is working on a ride for us for this summer as well.  We still need a couple more rides to fill our riding season, so please contact me if you want to have fun with a great group of people trying to make our summer a fun one for all of us! Newbies at being Ride Captain welcome - we've got lots of support, resources and help to make your first time leading our Group a memory you'll keep forever!!

The new destination for the ride on June 21 will be the Fred Light Museum in Battleford, Saskatchewan. I have been wanting to visit this exhibit for sometime. 2024 Happenings

1, CVMG SASKATCHEWAN ANNOUNCES the 2024 PUB (Pilgrimage Unto BIGGAR) RIDE

Back in the annuls of time, CVMG Saskatchewan established a riding challenge called the P.U.B..  PUB stands for Pilgrimage Unto Biggar (BIGGAR SK).  This riding challenge was sidelined when Orville Ohm passed in 2018, and then further when Covid occurred in 2020.  But like a bad cold, it is back for 2024.

CVMG Saskatchewan would like to challenge the CVMG members across Canada to ride the “PUB”. Especially now that the CVMG Annual Members Meeting for 2024 will be held close by in Saskatoon SK. Biggar is about 100km due west of Saskatoon, and a ride out to Biggar is planned as part of the activities of National AMM event. Rules and registration form are here.

1.1, DRAGGINS ROD & CUSTOM SHOW 2024 - CVMG SASK WAS THERE

The Draggin's Rod & Custom Show was held in Saskatoon on March 29-30, and CVMG Saskatchewan had 10 bikes on display.

2, RUST BUSTER RIDE TO PIKE LAKE - MAY 5TH

Our first ride of the season.  Thanks to Bert for hosting this once again and Bob D. for being Ride Captain once again.  To join the Group Ride, meet up at Western Development Museum on Lorne Ave, leaving at 1:30 pm.  Coffee will be ready at 2:30 for those that are making their own way to Bert's - here's a google map link:   https://maps.app.goo.gl/AEjiC3dc5Ri5JCTv8

Bert has offered the following additional info for those that have been there before and know how to find his place:  "the "north gate" - close to the Church will be open until May 16th so if you want to extend a tiny bit you would could extend a bit by going straight out highway 60 through the main park entrance  and then loop back to the "North gate" beside the Church - and a few hundred meters to our place."

3, 2024 RIDING SEASON - CHASING PRAIRIE SENTINELS,  May 1 - Sept 15,  2024

So here is the challenge; I am going hunting wooden grain elevators, and we are going to call this “CHASING PRAIRIE SENTINELS”.

The event will commence May 1, 2024 and end September 15, 2024.  and we will recognized those who have risen to this challenge at the Fall Windup BBQ.  Rules and registration form will be emailed out and also posted here on April 15, 2024.  c.l.

Chasing Prairie Sentinels Quest 2024 is an opportunity to exercise our vintage motorcycles on a day trip basis. This is not intended to be a race, and riding in a group is encouraged.

Attached you will find the registration and tally sheets needed to participate in this 2024 riding challenge.  This quest will commence on May 1, 2204 and finish on September 15, 2024. Recognition and Award (are there awards?) will take place at the fall windup BBQ in early October.

This event is confined within the borders of Saskatchewan.

To reduce the review work load, you are requested to only email your tally sheet at the end of month, and a link where the supporting photos can be viewed on a webhosting site. Start a new sheet each month but keep the originals.

the Saskatoon CPR station is listed as the first asa freebee, it can only be counted once on your first tally sheet, you still need to show a picture with your motorcycle parked in front.

Here is the registration form and the tally sheet.  if you want an excel sheet just email cvmg.sk.info@gmail.com

now go out and ride that vintage motorcycle.

4, POKER RIDE AND BBQ - June 1, 2024

You can participate in both (we're hoping you do!) or you can just join us for the BBQ.  For those of you not familiar with a Poker Rally, you will be given a list of 5 different places in Saskatoon that will be holding a deck of cards for us.  You will need to ride to each of these locations to draw a card from their deck and this will form your Poker Hand.  Prize will be awarded to the Best Poker Hand at the BBQ, held at Rhonda & Derek's back yard at 2106 Cumberland Ave South.  Times will be announced at a later date but for now - just mark it in your calendar and plan to attend.  We need an RSVP (to Rhonda) by Fri May 24th to know how many we are feeding.
