Carbs installed on the 1982 GS1100 today. I find that on 4 cylinder motors using a ratchet strap helps seating the carbs into the boots. A little grease for lube helps as does a warm ambient temp (or heat gun to soften the rubber boots.)

I bought another Suzuki early this year - something completely different from the others. It's a 1982 GS1100E-Z. It's complete save for the plate that the gas tank and seat are attached to, and the carbs are off.

Then last summer I went on a little Suzuki 2 stroke binge.

I bought a running 1972 T500 but with carbs that needed going over. They still need to be reinstalled. Its speedo was broken, the centre stand was missing, and one of the side cover emblems was absent. Enter Fred S. a vintage 2 stroke Suzuki master with a stash of spare parts, who fixed me up with a speedo, centre stand, and the very difficult to find (one year only) side cover emblem.

Then I bought a 1974 T500, 90% complete, and in boxes, from Fred. It's going to be a long term project.

From the Hamilton area I splurged and bought a really pretty 1975 T500 with a couple of boxes of spare parts. It has leaky oil injection lines and needs a petcock.

The last bike I bought last year was a 1971 T250 from north of Tweed area. It's complete but needed some disassembly and cleaning up. It's on my elevator table and I anticipate it'll be running in May. So confident that I took out an insurance policy for vintage bikes for it.

I'm a little over my head in projects.

The 1974 Honda cb750 is licensed, insured, and the one I ride when I can. It has a pretty crappy 4 into 2 exhaust system. One muffler has a repaired hole that is obvious, and one of the headers is heavily rusted. Luckily I have a much better RC (Russ Colins) 4 into 1 exhaust. I had it mounted on the bike last year but found it a bit too loud. Given the condition of the 4 into 2 exhaust, I'm going to put it back on.

I have a 1974 Honda cb450 that I'm fussing with right now. It's a challenge to get running well. I've been through both carbs more than once. I'm getting good at it. :) The points and timing, I'm not so strong with. Playing around with the air/fuel mix screw too. It's got air pods, so...

After buying and selling several examples of 1970's Yamaha XS650's, I have one that I like, a 1972 XS2 650 - the first year with electric start. I just need to repaint (rattle can) the gas tank and it should be good to go.
