    Hello Justin,

I am at the Paris Rally and raised your issue with some fellow members. This is a real issue as the drum brakes need to be internally inspected to measure the lining thickness and max internal diameter of the drum.

Glen Cochrane, from Old Fort York, believes that Cyclewerks can safety your bike. May cost more as labour is involved.

    Good luck.

Hello Justin. You could try the Canadian Tire in Uxbridge. I've had bikes certified there, before the change in regulations.

This was provided by our friends at Barrie Huronia section.

THIS AS AN INFORMATIONAL INSURANCE GUIDE FOR INTERESTED MEMBERS

We had a presentation this morning before the meeting started from Cory Finkelstein who represents Zehr Insurance Brokers. Zehr is just starting a new vintage bike insurance category and using Aviva Insurance as the vintage policy carrier. Cory outlined the parameters required to qualify and savings will amount to 40% off regular PL & PD standard coverage. If your interested on getting a quote Cory is based out of Wasaga Beach and can be reached at cfinkelstein@zehrinsurance.com The head office is in New Hamburg ON and the toll free number is 1-800-667-1802 for a phone line connection. We also have had a few members check out the CO-Operators Insurance group with good results too as a second option. They have a branch in Barrie on Dunlop Street which Dave G recently used and had a much lower quote from them vs his present carrier.

    Hello Justin,

We were discussing this very issue at one of our Sunday morning breakfast gatherings.

The issues seems to be bikes with drum brakes.

Brake Section 9 of the Schedule 6 for Motorcycles seems to be the reason for inspection being declined. At the end of that section, if the inspection tech deems there is a problem, they are required to remove the wheel and inspect the drum brake internally. Lining thickness, drum diameter etc.

I hope you find a certified facility that is prepared to do the work. It may cost you if they need to take the drum apart. Then there is the matter of you trusting them with your pride and joy.

As for appraisal, the treasurer of GPR section, Brock Hansler, does motorcycle appraisals you can contact him through the CVMG member directory.

    Useful link on certification

Wishing you success in getting this done.

Hello I am in need of help/advice from my local members. I live in keswick and do not know how I can get my 31 Harley safety certificate. I am being turned away due to the age of the bike. If I am able to get a safety, I then do not know where to turn for antique insurance/appraisal.  My goal is to put historic plates on this motorcycle and ride in in my community.

    Any advice appreciated
