I’m not sure if news of the passing of Tom Faulds has reached you but wanted to let you know regarding an acknowledgement in the next edition of the CVMG News.
Tom had been battling cancer for some time and passed away on Saturday September 5, 2020, as many members of the VRRA who knew him well were enjoying their only race weekend of the year at Shannonville.
Tom was the first employee at Honda Canada in 1969 and worked there until his retirement in 1993 having moved up to Executive Vice-President.
He was past president of the VRRA, a member of the Canadian Motorcycle Hall of Fame (Class of 2008). There is a nice bio on Tom Faulds on the Hall of Fame website. I will send you a photo of Tom at the 1967 Canadian Grand Prix with Mike Manley #94 along with the late John Nelson. He was also the guy who “rescued the Honda 250 Six out of the Ontario Science Centre and brought it to Mosport and other tracks for fans and enthusiasts to enjoy the music of the machine.
We did a small tribute on our Track Announcer’s Notebook podcast on ZOOM last night.
He held in high regarding by all in the motorcycle industry and racing community.
Regards,
Pat Golsalves
