CANADIAN VINTAGE MOTORCYCLE GROUP

Art Zimmerman the owner/designer and manufacturer of the Solo Starter company has passed away. Solo starters are floor mounted roller type units used to start a motorcycle. Not just for road race/dirt track  racers, Solos are used by vintage collectors who have trouble kicking over a higher compression bike. Art (also known as Doc Z) raced successfully in WERA (USA) before getting back into vintage racing with AHRMA and the VRRA. Although Art lived in Ohio, he loved riding his Aermacchi at Mosport and most recently provided a Solo starter to the VRRA as sponsorship. Art's father also raced in Canada and was known for his engineering a unique racing motorcycle and later race car. Both are now part of the Barber collection. RIP Art
